We also allow borrowing, but no ILL. We did get burned once, recently, but
he paid through the nose. And is now blacklisted. Generally we don't have
problems.

We do allow our alumni to borrow our books free of charge. They don't get
interlibrary loan privileges though.

Subject: [ILL-L] Do you let your alumni borrow books?

Hi,

This is a question for academic libraries only. Here we have been grappling
with the question of whether to let our alumni borrow our books. I would
like to ask what were the policies in other colleges and universities. We
fear that, since we don't have any sway over them, we may lose some of our
books if we lend them to alumni. If you are lending, do you do so free of
charge or in return for a contribution or a fee?

I will be grateful to hear from others.

Thank you,

Elisabeth Birnbaum
