[ILL-L] OCLC ILL DIRECT AND RAPID ILL

We use OCLC direct and it works pretty well:
 
It can only work if the request is able to pinpoint a single OCLC
record. So, it needs to have an OCLC number or an ISBN number to not go
to the review file, but to be requested directly.
 
Patrons can now look at an OCLC record in WorldCat and request it ILL
using the set up ILL link, and it goes to the Direct Produced OCLC file.
 
OCLC direct can't handle articles: OCLC told me that the holdings are
not uniform enough, so even with an ISSN and OCLC number in the request,
it won't find the appropriate lenders.
 
It took time to understand this system and to make a workflow for it,
but it has saved us time and makes sense now.
 
Most book requests don't have OCLC or ISBN numbers, so we just send them
to the review file with the article orders.

Greetings--
       I am interested in finding out how many libraries are using OCLC
ILL DIRECT and RAPID ILL.  If you are, could you please give me your
assessment of one or both of these utilities (off list), I would
appreciate it very much.
 
       Specifically, I would like to know:
 
                How difficult was the set up?
                Has implementation of either of these improved work
processes?  Improved turnaround time?
                With OCLC ILL Direct, do your requests go directly to
lender or into the review file or direct-to-profile processing?
                What percentage of your workload is now handled through
OCLC ILL Direct or Rapid ILL?
                What was the cost involved in either?  Did the
implementation result in any savings?
 
       Please include any comments you may find helpful.
