Library 2.Whoa : Changing Demands in a Digital World

The Iowa OCLC Users Group 2008 conference will be held in Cedar Falls
May 15-16. At $15.00 for the conference, IOUG continues its tradition of
affordable professional development. Registrations received after May
9th may not get lunch.

The preconference on the 15th is on the UNI campus and is in two
sessions. The morning session is:

Point & Click Web Publishing: Content Delivery Made Easy with Blogs and
Wikis

The afternoon session is:

Forging Links and Building Community: An Introduction to Social Software

The conference will take place at the Holiday Inn on University Avenue
in Cedar Falls. Our keynote speaker is Matt Goldner from OCLC. His talk
"Putting Library Services Where our users Live and Work" will focus on
today's information seeker, their changing behaviors and expectations
and the tools and methods they choose to employ. How libraries insert
themselves into the users' workflows and behaviors becomes more critical
each year as users increasingly look to other sources on the Web for
information aside from the library. Over the last seven years OCLC has
been executing a strategy to weave libraries into this changing
information landscape. The strategy to this point and going forward over
the next two years will be discussed.

The registration form and further details on the conference can be found
