Oops, sorry, you're right, I meant to say 'one article from a single issue' provided it doesn't amount to more than half the issue, but that second part isn't in the law either, just something I was told, Ed. My mention of page numbers was just a mistake.

Sorry, but that's not correct.  There are no page limits specified in
the copyright law. Section 108(d) is quite specific about "no more than
one article".  However, I've heard various opinions about how this
provision relates to 108(g)(2) and Section 107, Fair Use.  In other
words, there may be some wiggle re: more than one article per issue but
I don't think it has much to do with an absolute number of pages. --
