I would check the license with the Publisher first. You might not have
purchased redistribution rights. Do you also own a paper copy. PCC's
interpretation of copyright law allows me to use the electronic copy as a
convenience.

Subject: [ILL-L] Chapter from an e-book?

How do you handle ILL requests for a chapter from an e-book?

We've had numerous requests to borrow e-books, and we Just Say No. But we
just had an ILL request for a chapter from an e-book. It's an e-book we
"own" (purchased from NetLibrary) rather than lease (or whatever the
terminology is), and it's a 19-page chapter from a 311-page book, so
presumably it's "fair use." Should it be safe to print this chapter out and
send it? (We don't charge, if that makes any difference.)

Thanks!

Arthur Robinson (GLG)
