[ILL-L] ? about ODYSSEY failed requests

Hi All,

We just started sending articles by ODYSSEY about 2 months ago. I
need some input from all of you out there in ILL land. We have had
several articles fail to go through on ODYSSEY lately. I have
contacted the libraries to see if there is an address change or
what. I then dutifully resent the articles through ODYSSEY. The
articles came back again as failed. The libraries had email
addresses or ARIEL IPs to receive these articles as alternatives.

At this point in trying to retrieve the articles from my C drive on
the computer in the elecdel backup folder, I discovered that some of
the articles were not there. I contacted OCLC as they host our
server to ask where to find these TIF files. To my amazement I
discovered they are on OCLC server in a location where I cannot
retrieve them. I was told I have to contact OCLC for them to place
the files on my space on their server. I can then FTP the files to
my desktop and copy them. I then have to convert them to pdf and
send by email or print off and rescan to send on ARIEL.

I can do this, but it seems very labor intensive. During the school
year if files fail to go through this can be a busy time. We have
ILLIAD and ARIEL on the same computer for lending and borrowing. I
am asking any of you out there if you have a similar situation. Do
you have any workflow suggestions for me that could cut down the
labor involved in the process???

Thanks for any suggestions as they are greatly appreciated!
