[ILL-L] ILL Faux Pas

Say I have a patron who needs a book.  We own it but right now it is checked
out.  Its on hold, but she needs it before its due back.  (Of course.)  
 
Why is it an ILL Faux Pas to ILL it?  Or is it not really a huge deal?  I
hate to tell her sorry, you'll have to go buy it.
