I think that's probably pretty close to a miracle.  The whole idea
behind a PDF file is that it's an uneditable file type.  If the document
you're trying to convert doesn't have too much formatting, you can copy
and paste the text into a word document (this works better sometimes
than others and I'm absolutely not sure about the legality of it).

Is there a way to convert the pdf to a word file that you can edit...as
in not read only?  Or is that asking for a miracle?

I've used this site before:

with good results.  It's free and seems to be able to genuinely take the
PDF image and turn it into a word document.
