[ILL-L] Friday question: AMBC vs BCAM

Yes Paul---that is the correct interpretation of these group symbols.
There is a minor difference in the BCR code (up to 30 pages of copies
free) vs. the Amigos code (up to 50 pages of copies free), but generally
this is not an issue or can be negotiated if necessary.

If I had been a bit more checking in the policies directory, I'd learn
that:

 

BCAM   is AMIGOS/BCR AGREEMENT: BCR SIGNERS

 

AMBC is AMIGOS/BCR AGREEMENT: AMIGOS SIGNERS 

 

 

So, as a AMBC participant, I can obtain loans/copies at no charge from
BCAM affiliation libraries.

Paul,

I don't believe they are the same groups.  BCAM list 241 member units
and a quick scan of the members look to be only BCR libraries.  AMBC has
599 member units and a quick scan show both BCR and Amigos libraries.

It's Friday, so my brain is running a little slow.

 

In the OCLC Policies Directory, under Group Affiliation, there are BCAM
and AMBC.

 

Are these the same?

 

I'm thinking yes, as both are Amigos and BCR joint reciprocal groups. I
thought I'd check with the collective wisdom of ILL-L.
