[ILL-L] Incoming mail in Ariel

There's a wonderful lady at Ariel support, Adrian(ne?).  She just
finished helping us (me & an IT guy - mostly the IT guy) get Ariel up &
running after it's totally inexplicable and, worse, irrecoverable crash
sometime during the holidays.  Call 1/800/422-4633, ext.2142.  You sound
like you have more of a grasp on techie jargon than I do, so it may be a
short and sweet conversation.

We're trying to set up incoming Ariel-email. It seems to me it's just
for receiving articles in a way other than through the IP address, so
the ports don't have to be opened up. We haven't succeeded in getting it
set up yet (security protections, I think, and SSL email issues), but I
think the articles appear in the receive window just as if they were
sent to the IP address. I've received them in the usual email, and the
article appears as a TIF attachment, which Windows seems to have a
reader to handle. Any non-article Ariel email is sent to a junk mail
folder, which can be checked from time to time. Ed.

What is the function of the incoming email in Ariel?  We have an email
address specified for our Ariel that works on the outgoing, but I
haven't figured out how to get it to work for incoming documents.  Any
guidance would be appreciated!
