[ILL-L] banning paperwork?

I would love to cut it out, if only to lessen our printing needs; but
I have many apprehensions.
Here are a few of them:
1.
We use the Ship To addresses from the request forms as shipping labels
when we lend to out-of-state institutions.
2.
Also, the ILL request forms go with students to the shelves when they
are grabbing books
for lending.
They also use them to convey messages to me about individual requests
(complications, questions, etc.)
The ILL barcodes on the forms are invaluable time-savers.
3.
Many libraries don't have barcodes on their bookstraps (if they use
bookstraps at all).
4.
I've had enough books returned to me
(from our patrons as well as from other libraries) missing one or more element
of paperwork (sheet, strap, return label, etc.) that I would hesitate
to make a switch
that limits my potential to know what an item is without searching the
database at every step.
5.
The ILL form provides me with (for lending) patron name, Ariel
Address, email address, etc., which
I use when sending articles electronically.
