Barbara,

We use the standard University student employee evaluation form (see http://www.svsu.edu/emplibrary/Student_Employee_Eval.doc ) gearing our comments to appropriate ILL topics.

The one promise I make to them at the time of hire and at the start of each semester is that they will never hear anything negative for the first time at an evaluation. If they have earned some hard news then it is my job to make sure that is communicated in real time so they have a chance to improve *before* the evaluation.

I agree that feedback is important, especially on a regular basis (fall, winter, and combined spring/summer semesters).

Best regards,

.. Thom ..

I am wondering if any of you who supervise student workers have a work-study
evaluation form that you use when evaluating your ILL work-study students. I
started to write my own and realized that I probably should get some
feedback from others in this position. Anyone willing to share their forms
or their ideas? I personally think that students deserve to be encouraged in
their work and an official evaluation is a good way to do it. (As well as to
provide a tool for improving their work)
Thanks!
