US Patents since 1790 are available online for free from the US Patent
Office at http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html.  For some, you'll need to
have QuickTime installed on your computer, but that's available for free

I know this has been discussed before, but, as usual, when one needs it the
information is not readily available.

A patron wants a 1982 patent and I do not recall how to request this from
either the Patent Office or some other location that may own it.

Appreciate the help the list serve readers provide.
