[ILL-L] Copyright two articles from one issue?

That is how I read Section 108(b) - a second patron's request at another
time would usually be "isolated and unrelated" and a "separate
occasion."

As far as I can tell, this limitation is per-user. That is, if one
patron requests one article, and then a second patron requests an
article from that same issue months later, that is all right. Is that
correct?
Thank you,
Rachael

Hello Ed,
The restriction to one article per issue has nothing to do with
the CONTU guidelines (CCL/CCG) and therefore date is irrelevant, until
the item becomes public domain. The exemption that permits ILL (section
108 of the code) states that it only applies to "no more than one
article or other contribution to a copyrighted collection or periodical
issue". (http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html#108)
Best,
Ursula

I'm trying to refresh my memory - we have a student who wants
two articles from a single issue of a journal published in 1995 (CCL).
Is that cause for copyright? I would say no, as long as we stay under
five for this year of the journal, as a rough idea. What do other people
do? Thanks,

I need to ship to Canada. I have only done this once before and
remember there are certain things that need to go on the form so it
won't be held up in customs. Can anyone help refresh my memory?
Thanks, Kathy
