[ILL-L] weekends don't count for the 4 days, do they?

I wish OCLC had two indications of the "record not found" that we see
which usually means that a request has timed out. The other day, we had
a request in process and -when we came back from checking the shelves-
it had had the status of "record not found". We're assuming that the
borrower cancelled it. The odd thing about the request was that the
requesting library had requested two copies of the same title for two
different customers. We only had one available so we chose to fill the
older of the two requests. Each lenders string had us as the first
library. Both had been imported from OCLC on Saturday 2/16. In
theory, Monday was day 1 (right?) for this request. Even it was Day 2,
it wouldn't have timed out.

There's usually a moment of momentary confusion when this happens. We
assume there's been a cancellation when it's something we just searched
and that's the way we count it in our internal stats. But- and I know
this sentiment has been voiced on this listserv before- it's frustrating
to go through all that work for nothing. "Back in the day", when we
used the CLIO/ ILLme/OCLCWeb combo as our ILL Management System, we
didn't know after we'd processed, packaged, mailed, and uploaded results
to OCLC that some of our requests had timed out or been cancelled. I
know we must've sent off many a book that we shouldn't have. Now, with
ILLiad, we see the status as we process it.

What I'm hoping is that OCLC doesn't count these borrower cancellations
against our symbol- counting them as an Unfill.

The only time that I've seen a weekend age is when Friday was the fourth
day. I recall that sometime in my OCLC ILL past (somewhere between 1984
and yesterday), these didn't get passed on at the end of Friday, but
some other time on the weekend, possibly at the end of Sunday. So
technically on Saturday it was the fifdth day, but I'd still have
access.

I don't know if that is true today.

This discussion is making me feel old in more than 1
way............................

Enjoying the beautiful blue sky day in Louisiana.

Right; weekends don't count, but yesterday did. From the WCRS Glossary:

Okay, thanks for everyone who has sent this. But our lender is still
insisting that requests age out all the time over the weekend, so has
anyone else had this happen? I'm not interested in an argument, but I
am baffled as to why our requests seem to be aging out over the
weekends, according to our lender. Is it something we should report to
OCLC? Because it does make it tricky to fill requests if they're not
going the full 4 days.

Thanks,
Julia
