We use Lending book straps for two primary reasons: 1) We hope it's harder
for the borrowing library to miss information that's attached to the front
of the item and 2) It makes it easier to sort our incoming mail-most
returned Lending items have our book straps on them, incoming Borrowing
items don't.

Subject: [ILL-L] lending book straps not needed?

I notice that maybe half of the books we borrow don't have lending book
straps, we add a borrowing book strap to all books. Our books are well
stamped and identifiable, and when we lend them I assume the borrowing
library adds a borrowing book strap with the due date. Any reasons to
continue using lending book straps? Thanks, Ed.
