[ILL-L] lending book straps not needed?

Yes, it sounds like people just need some paperwork and the Clio slip
would do. If libraries put on a borrowing strap anyway, it seems like it

We add a borrowing book strap to all books with the paperwork stapled to
the strap so it doesn't get lost.  The thing that bothers me the most is
that we send our books out with paperwork but some libraries return them
without any paperwork at all.  Or they send their books with no
paperwork and no book strap.  I'm all for getting rid of paperwork but
it would be nice to at least have an IL number or the patron's name so I
don't have to jump through hoops to see who borrowed it or who requested
it.
Just venting on a nasty, icy day.

As long as you have some paperwork somewhere with the book (other than a
lending strap), there's no need for that, since most (if not all)
borrowers add their own strap with their info on it.  But if your
lending strap is your only paperwork, well, then of course you'd want to
use it. :-)
