Data Entry Operator II
Salary: $26,873 - $30,989
Department/Location: Information Access Division, Maryland Inter-library
Loan Department (MILO)
Summary of duties
Under the Supervision of the Data Entry Supervisor of the Maryland
Interlibrary Loan (MILO) Unit, operates various systems and databases to
update and record data from different sources. Routes and refers
requests for books and other materials from colleges, in-state and
out-of-state library systems, government agencies, and other
institutions by telephone and through electronic and other delivery
systems. Reviews requests and determines appropriate method of
acquiring materials. Pulls materials requested by various agencies form
the assigned department and ships them appropriately. Processes
incoming materials for customer pick up.
Basic requirements
High school diploma or GED required. One year of experience in the
operation of computers for data entry. Successful candidate must be
able to enter alpha and numeric data on a personal computer at a rate of
8,000 keystrokes per hour. Availability to work a flexible schedule,
which may include day, evening, and weekend hours.
Position of trust
Those eligible who are under final consideration for appointment will be
required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information
from the Maryland State Police.
