[ILL-L] Epub ahead of print

Yes, they make life interesting. I get quite a few requests for articles scheduled for publication in four months, needed "immediately." Usually, when patrons learn they'll have to pay to get it now (we cover the first $10 for students and $15 for faculty) but can get it free if they wait, they either decide they don't need it or become a lot more patient. (Of course sometimes we can't get them to pick it up. I explain to them that I'll check every two weeks or so, but that if the publication date in the citation they give me is March 2009, that may mean they have to wait until March 2009.)

These items can be a nightmare to find via ILL as they
are available only on the publisher-hosted web page and not usually
through an aggregated full-text database and it can be difficult to
determine who has what kind of access.
