This only happened to us once, and the borrowing library didn’t ask for a refund. It seems to me that once it’s paid for, the transaction is over (but don’t pay too soon),

Subject: [ILL-L] refunds for lost items returned - time limit

Dear Colleagues,

Do your libraries have a cut off period after which you will not refund the replacement costs for a lost item that has been returned? If so, how long is this period? Is the period the same for items lost in interlibrary loan? Is this information published in your circulation and interlending policies?

Thanks so much for any and all replies.

Nora
