He gave me encouragement when I was at a very low point in my career and
he did not know me at all.

A very gracious man. I was at a meeting once when he was present
and I was in awe. I might have shaken his hand and told him appreciated
his policy book...I can't remember. He only spoke briefly at the ILL
meeting but he had everyones attention in that packed little room in
New Orleans. A very generous spirit. A dean of ILL land.
