[ILL-L] author and copyright limit

I agree that it depends whether the professor or the journal owns the copyright, but it seems to me that the professor (or you?) might be able to call the publisher and ask for a copy of an article,

I have a few faculty who request ILL copies of articles that they wrote. They never had, or gave away, their only copy, etc.

None have reached the limit of 5/5 years yet, but I've wondered:
1. Does this count still count against the 5/5 for currsent 5 year articles?

2. If the faculty gave us written/emailpermission, could I exclude the request(s) fromour copyright count?


I hope this makes sense. We are paying a lot of CCC fees this year, and I'm looking at any way to reduce those expenditures.
