The same thing happened to us at Brown this year and we still have not
figured out what happened.  Does Amazon shed any light on it?

In my fifteen years with ILL I thought I'd heard everything - but this
takes the cake!

A woman called us and said she bought a book from a seller on Amazon and
it still had our stamp and barcode!  We had sent that out on ILL in
April and never got it back.  The online bookseller said they buy all
their books - so who knows what happened.  The person who borrowed it
sold it?  The good news is the woman bought it volunteered to send it
back us; she is pursuing a refund from Amazon.
