[ILL-L] transmitting color copies

Color copies can be transmitted using a color scanner. However, the files
tend to be massive and Ariel doesn't send them well. I suppose you could
use Ariel to create the PDF file and then e-mail directly but I haven't
tried it. Instead, if we have a request for color copies we will scan and
then print to a color printer (not being gifted with a color copier....) and
then send via US Mail.
When one of our patrons requests an article in color, I make sure to note it
everywhere possible - the delivery method field, the borrower notes field,
etc. Of course, I still get some that are in B&W but at least I can say I
tried.

Subject: [ILL-L] transmitting color copies
Hello Everyone:
I think this topic has come up before, but I am wondering how the rest of
you meet the request for color copies of articles? We have some faculty
departments especially in the sciences that indicate the color transmission
is very important to them.
I am not that familiar with the technology, but I am imagining that a lot
would depend on the equipment that the supplying library might have as well
as on the software and equipment at the borrowing library. I would
appreciate any information you can provide.
Thank you
