We're an LVIS, ZERO library looking for this article from a free lender.
It's just been sent out by the publisher, and we're not sure if anyone
has it yet.

Mahdavi "Intellectuals and the state in Iran: politics, discourse, and
the dilemma of authenticity" in
British journal of Middle Eastern studies 34 (3), 2007:Dec., 407-eoa.

Does anyone have this to lend? Thanks!

Subject: [ILL-L] ILL systems - usability

Hi-

Does anyone know of any usability tests that have been conducted on ILL
systems? I'm talking here from the user's perspective (not staff) -
searching and ordering.

Here at Concordia we have the VDX system and the default screen is a
search screen. Patrons may come up empty on their search (especially if
they are looking for a journal article) and they don't know where to
turn next. In fact there is a "Create Request" blank form they can fill
out, but it's not very obvious on the left menu. I get complaints all
the time from Reference about the VDX public interface. If anyone knows
of usability testing done on VDX or any other ILL systems, I'd be
interested to hear about it. Or if anyone else has VDX and has found a
creative way to emphasize the "Create request" option, or make
improvements to the interface, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks-

Joanna Duy
