[ILL-L] Stamps (was: LVIS and overdue fines)

Hello Corinne,
I remember the stamps. Libraries would send us something and write in
the charges field, "postage". We used to have to tear off the wrappings
with the postage when books arrived so that we'd know how much to send.
(Those were the days before our shipping staff opened our packages.
Sometimes the jiffy came loose, but that's another story...)
We are in Canada, but we couldn't send Canadian stamps with the returned
book, so once or twice a year, I wrote (snail mail) to the Buffalo post
office and bought a supply of US stamps just for this purpose. I used
to ask for the commemorative ones; at least they were interesting. I
think I actually got on their mailing list, as they always sent me the
catalog showing the special stamps.

I bet newer ILL staff are rolling their eyes at all this now.
