[ILL-L] Books checked out

If the book is missing/lost, or is checked out and the due date is 2 days or more out, we'll go ahead and ILL it. We've learned that our patrons don't respond to recalls in a timely manner, so it's better service to go ahead and get it elsewhere rather than wait several days/weeks for it.

If a person wants to ILL a Reserve or Reference book the answer is no. Access may not be convenient, but it /is/ on the shelf. In a little over 7 years, I've had only two patrons get really upset over this. That's not bad odds. :)

Hope this helps!

Subject: [ILL-L] Books checked out

What do you do when a student wants a book that is checked out for a
month? Can one request this book on interlibrary loan?

Thanks for your help with this.
