[ILL-L] Books checked out

We basically follow Arthur's practice. If it's not available, we do an ILL.
We don't interpret that to include non-circulating items such as Reference
titles that people want to take out of the library. It is available here,
just not convenient.

BTW: We do have a copy of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" available
for loan - if interested, I'd suggest emailing me before sending an OCLC
request, so I can assure that you're the first seeker.

It's up to the individual library. In our case, if a patron wants a book we
own that is checked out but due in a week, we put a hold on it and recall it
if it's not back in a week. If the book isn't due for a couple of weeks or
more, we order it on ILL. (Unless, of course, it's Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows.)

What do you do when a student wants a book that is checked out for a month?
Can one request this book on interlibrary loan?

Thanks for your help with this.
