[ILL-L] Custom Holdings List for long loan periods

Jennifer,
We need to ask for long loan periods for our homebound patrons. We place a note in the request, usually in the edition field with asterisks fore and aft: ***** NEED 8 WEEKS LOAN FOR HOMEBOUND ****. We tried using the borrower notes but almost no lenders responded to the note we put there.

Somewhere between a half and three quarters of the loans we get for these requests have sufficiently long loan periods to meet the need.
For others, I try to keep ahead of the too-short due dates by asking for renewals; in this case, I can usually handle it by searching requests via department.

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if a customs holding list has already been created for long loan periods (6 weeks or longer). We have a second campus in San Diego (we are in Burbank), and I'm beginning to get ILL requests from our students there. The San Diego campus has no library staff, so I must first receive and process all items here and then mail them to San Diego, who distributes the items to the students, collects them, and then mails them back to me. Obviously, the usual loan period is not sufficiently long for this process!

Does anyone know of such a list or have any practices in place which address these issues?

Thanks!

-Jenny
