[ILL-L] Detroit city directories: does anyone own these?

Hi Linda, I just got back from vacation, so am getting caught up. I was in
the same situation you are in, but with San Francisco. I ended up going a
different route. If you look up in OCLC under United States or US City
Directories Detroit, you may find libraries that have the directories on
microfilm and will lend the film. I was successful this way.

      We have some but not all of the years you need, and our policy is no
      photocopying of city directories.   I'm sure Detroit Public Library
      has all the years you need but they aren't going to admit it and they
      probably aren't on the listserv.   The learn more link for
      Interlibrary Loan didn't work for me just now at
      http://www.detroitpubliclibrary.org/Services/Services.htm
      Maybe you could try an Ask-a-Librarian session with them and see if
      you can negotiate.
