which requires different treatment, if any. I'd recommend getting the
books to an expert who can examine them directly. Unless you know what the
spots are for sure, either treating them incorrectly or leaving them alone &
adding the books to your collection could do more harm than good. --

After years of doing microbiology it is probably a dry type of mold. Gently
wipe the books with a mild solution of bleach water. That could solve the
problem if you want to add the books to your collection. Can't hurt to try.

Just a fast mold question. We received some gift books which have those
light brown dots on the top and sometimes the bottom - are these mold spots,
or just age? Any responses appreciated, thanks!
