[ILL-L] How you can update an item to Shipped once it has passed on to the next lender

We have had a few instances where libraries sent items to us, even though the request had aged to the next lender. I called and asked how they were updating OCLC, and found they didn't realize they had to update a 2nd time...they saw after the first update that the status had changed to shipped. So, they thought they were done.

To recap:

If the offending libraries are updating in WCRS one record at a time (not using Batch), its possible that they're not updating to the record a 2nd time.

When updating one record at a time to "yes", the system automatically displays the record again so that the lending library can add edit fields if needed. However, the status of the request is changed to "Shipped". Even if there's no need to edit, the staff member must still click on Update again. Only at that point does OCLC recognize that the status has changed, despite what the status of the request is.

If they don't update again, the request will age out an go to the next lender.
