[ILL-L] books with cds

I totally agree with Richard. If the CD is in the bib record, it is
part of the *publication*. To me, taking out the CD would be like
removing a map insert.
As a technological university, many of the things we order have
accompanying CDs. Our patrons are *not* happy when the "CD portion"
does not arrive with the "print portion" of the requested item.
If we lend a book with a CD and only the book comes back, we charge for
the entire publication. It has been difficult for us to purchase the
CDs only. (Also, it has resulted in very little cost savings - CD
usually costs as much as entire publication.)
I would urge any library that removes CDs and other parts of the
publication to please send a conditional or refuse to lend the entire
item. Trying to track down the CD creates delay and extra work for the
borrower.
