[ILL-L] books with cds

Just to add a little to this issue, some CDs are just a copy of the
book, which you wouldn't really need to send. Other CDs are
supplemental and may contain a study guide or question/answer material
and are used side-by-side with the book. It might be worth it to look
at the record to see what the CD contains when making the decision to
send it or not.

    Oooohhhh, I hope so!

I'm the borrower for our institution, and believe me, I get an
EARFUL when a patron request a book that does not come in with the CD.
They saw the WorldCat record and (...by golly) "it's supposed to have a
CD with it".

_I_ look at the WorldCat record and it's supposed to have a CD with
it.

At their request, I call the lender, only to find out that they
don't circulate their CD's. No conditional up front - if so, I would
have said no and had it go on to the next library. The patron has
already waited for two weeks and you know that problems only happen to
patrons that take it well. :| Now I have to tell them to submit
another request because the lender still won't send the CD? Yipes!

I hate to put "please say NO if you can't loan with CD" in the
Borrowing Notes, because _it is part of the publication_, and that's
usually _why_ the patron picks that title over several others. If the
book came from the publisher w/o the CD, your acquisitions librarian
would promptly pick up the phone and let them know they didn't get
everything they asked for!

PLEASE send CD's with the books!!
