[ILL-L] books with cds

We don't borrow or loan CDs or CD-ROMs, so we conditional if we get a
request for a book that has a CD-ROM (unless the Borrowing note
explicitly says they want the CD as well, in which case it's a No -
Policy Problem). If the library is satisfied with just the book, we
send it.

When our patrons request books that have accompanying CDs or CD-ROMs, I
notify them that we can only request the book, and ask if they want me
to proceed. If they do, I send the request with a Borrowing Note
"Please loan the book even if you can't loan the accompanying CD." If
the other library sends the CD anyway, I hand everything over to the
patron, and when it comes back, make sure the CD is still there. So
far, none of our patrons has returned an ILL book without the CD.
(Knock wood.)

I have an interloan grumble...

I just received a book that did not have the cd with it.
Now, I am assuming my patron is expecting the cd to accompany the book.

Do you think a library should 'conditional' a request if they can fill
the book, but the cd is lacking?
