Just for the flip side... :-)
Our Circulation dept. checks out all the ILL materials, so they do
de-sensitize them, because we just don't have the staff available to
walk over to the exits for all ILL stuff checked out (our Circ is run
on a bare-bones staffing). But since we are desensitizing them, we
also re-sensitize them. We don't have a desensitizer here in our
dept. (Sue mentioned they don't have one in ILL, and neither do we),
but we pick up all the returns at Circulation, just as all the
outgoing stuff is at Circ. They conveniently have a "thunker" (the
technical term), on the way back to our office, so we just thunk them
on the way back. Making sure not to do the tapes and videos, of course!

It may not work for everyone, but it works for us!

Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't.
