At UBY we never desensitize nor sensitize other libraries' books through
ILL. We instruct patrons to hand ILL items to the security guard at the
gates upon exiting or re-entering the library. We feel it is consistent
with the commitment not to alter another library's books in any way.
It is a small inconvenience for patrons -- we have had no complaints --
and ensures the item is not inadvertently sent back without being
re-sensitized or in some way compromising the lending library's security
system.
