[ILL-L] RE: conditionals, deflections, etc (was policy problem)

Yes, indeed, we need more Reasons for No, including:

 

                "No - We loaned this on ILL seven months ago and we've sent 23 e-mails and three invoices and left 11 phone messages and can't even get an answer from the #%$&**s who have it."

 

Another one we could have used recently:

 

                "No - We sent our copy of this to you two weeks ago."  

 

(Actually, last January we got 5 requests for the same book in three days from a library in California.  I suspect it was a textbook.)

I have longed for more "reasons for no" since inception - one for "don't
lend AV" and one for "too new", these are the bulk of our requests it
seems.  We conditional people now for the new  and non-circ-but-will-copy
things, but it sure would be easier to do them with the rest of the no's.
Delection by pub date would be a dream!

BTW, why do youyou think things slip through deflection once in a while?
