When thou art the lender, thou shall refer all requests for renewals and special requests back by the borrowing library back to the borrowing library. Thou shalt not refer thy borrowers to the lending library giving them phone numbers and e-mail addresses when they do not accept the terms of the loan.
When a lending library conditions that it can provide copies of 15 specific pages for free, thou shalt not try to upeth the ante and requesteth 50 photocopies for free,
Thou shalt not submitteth an article or copy request for a book or periodical without indicating what thou wisheth copied.
Thou shalt not submitteth a copy request for AV material lest ye wish to waste an ILL request.
Thou shalt not request copies of multiple chapters that compriseth a goodly portion of the entire book, especially when thou didst not attempth to borrow the book. The Fair Use gods doth frown mightly on such as this,
Thou shalt not cry out "But it's a USED BOOK!" when thine institution is charged a replacement price for grievous injury to said book incurred whilst it was on loan. Verily, all library books are -as thou sayest- "used" though we prefereth the term "well read".
Thou shalt not request a rush request from a library whose OCLC policy statement clearly states it does not provideth, Neither shall thou contact said library and castigate the staff of said library demanding such - especially when thou intendeth to charge thy customer for the work the lending library doth provideth for free.
Thou shalt not forget that thou art an ambassador for thine institution and for thy customers. Verily, I sayeth unto thee: what goest aroundeth, cometh aroundeth. The library staff thou mightily vented thy ire on as a lender may not look upon thee with favor when thou wishest to borrow.
Neither shall ye be a snarky borrower. Thou shalt ever remember that lenders are not required to lend to thee and conduct thyself accordingly, Verily, a transaction is termed an "Interlibrary Loan request" - not an "Interlibrary Loan demand."

Thou shall not be an LVIS member unless you intend to LEND to all other LVIS
members, as well as borrow from them.

Thou shall not issue overdue notices without having done shelf checks that
include the materials waiting to be shelved in the circulation area.

After the latest round of posts on canceled requests, I thought about my
own pet peeves and that maybe we need a Ten Commandments of ILL;

Here are a few to get the ball rolling:

1. Thou shalt not ship AV's in anything but a box.

2. Thou shalt not update to shipped unless you have the item in hand (I
know, I know, some of you do this for a good reason, like branches ship out
ILL's directly, but maybe you could show them how to update, its really
easy.)

3. Thou shalt not reply "No-unspecified."

4. Thou shalt not reply "No-Noncirculating" for COPY requests.

5. Thou shalt not bill borowers for items lost in natural disasters.

OK - anymore out there? Happy Friday Y'all
