One of our patrons wants a copy of the poem: "Story of a Bloodthirsty Madman Called Dracula of Wallachia." I see lots of references to it on vampire discussion sites and forums, but no sources.
According to the vampire fans, it's a 1,070 line poem written by German poet Michel (or Michael) Beheim. It's based on the life of Vlad the Impaler, and Beheim recited it to the Holy Roman Emperor, Fredrick III in 1463.
There are matches for the author's name in FirstSearch but I don't see anything that looks like it would contain the poem. Of course, I can't be sure since I don't speak German. The patron prefers an English translation but would also accept German.
Ideas, anyone?
thanks,
Sheryl
