[ILL-L] ILL workload vs staffing levels quick survey 7000-8000

Last year, Jacksonville Public Library (JPL) processed 35,662 request
(Lending: 23,603/ Borrowing 12,059). We deflect AV so that figure may
be higher. Our staffing is: 1 professional librarians, 3 clerks, and
one 20 hr/week part-time clerk. I'm the only professional and "in
charge". I also fill in whenever someone is out, we have staff shortages
or the work we do is threatening to overwhelm anyone. For 3 months this
past fiscal year, I was ILL Lending. In addition to ILL, we handle our
Books By Mail program, see that books belonging to other libraries get
home, track ILL requests for Collection Development needs, report
holdings that need to be deleted or corrected from the WorldCat to
Cataloging, and help staff the library's Call Center. I also serve as a
go-to person for a number of different tasks. For example, I have a
master key and may be called away to let a workman into one of the
machine bays down here on the conference level, I monitor the area for
safety violations, report building problems, et al.

On a similar note: I would like to know the same information for
libraries that process 7,000 to 8,000 requests annually. That includes
both borrowing and lending.

*
	How many full-time and part-time staff members do you have in
ILL?
*
	Are they support staff or professional?
*
	I would particularly like to know if you are the only full-time
staff member for ILL, in other words you run the ship.
*
	Are you professional or support staff?
*
	Also, how many student workers do you have? And how many hours
do they cover?

Please respond to me directly and I can summarize to the list.

Sue

Dear fellow ILLers,

Would any of you be willing to share with me quick statistics on your
staffing levels compared to your ILL workload?

I'm looking for libraries processing in the neighborhood of around
25,000 requests annually (give or take) - 15,000 borrowing and 10,000
lending. How many full-time and part-time staff members do you have
dedicated to ILL? Of those staff, what portion is considered support
staff and what portion considered is professional (or MLIS) staff?

You can respond directly to me: csisak5 at naz.edu. And your help is
immensely appreciated as I begin the process of justifying why we need
additional staffing.

Thanks!

-Chris
