[ILL-L] Help with Scanner Driver?

Hi All-
 
We are having a problem using Ariel 3.4 with an HP scanner. Our IT contact
describes the issue as follows:
 
We recently purchased and installed a HP Scanjet 5590 for use with Ariel.
The scanner is working fine save for the lack of dither options. Under Ariel
and for that matter the software that comes with the scanner the only
options listed under dither are "no dither" and "user download". The
documentation for the scanner and HP's site don't offer any help on what
user download means or if there are any other options. I have also tried at
least 3 different drivers that did not help. I realize this is not one of
the approved Ariel scanners but does anyone have any insight into this lack
of dither with HP drivers or this specific model?

 

 

Can any one help us out?
