[ILL-L] STARS - Hot Topics Discussion Group - Vice-Chair needed

Dear resource sharing practitioners-

During the 2006 summer ALA conference a petition was circulated to create a 
second discussion group in STARS, the Hot Topics Discussion Group. The 
Hot Topics DG has been formally approved as a permanent discussion 
group. The charge for the group is: To provide a forum for discussion of 
timely resource sharing issues among all types of libraries. As you know 
we already have an Interlibrary Loan Discussion Group, and this new 
discussion group will complement the work of the ILL DG. The Hot Topics 
Discussion Group met at the ALA Midwinter meeting in Seattle on 
Saturday January 20th, 4-6 p.m. and had a spirited discussion on Ariel vs Odyssey, Purchase upon Demand programs, and Digitization Upon Demand.  

I am writing to ask you if you are interested in running to be 
Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect for the Hot Topics Discussion Group, or know 
someone you would recommend. The appointment would be from the Annual Conference in D.C. (June 2007)
through the Annual Conference in Chicago, IL (June 2009). The first year you would be 
Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, and the second year you would be Chair of the 
Discussion Group.  The Chair organizes the discussion group meetings at 
the midwinter and annual conferences. Further description about 
discussion groups and officer roles can be found in the STARS Bylaws

(see Article IX). The Hot Topics Discussion Group will elect their 
Vice-Chair at the Midwinter meeting in Seattle.
