[ILL-L] ALA Hotel room needed

I have a suggestion for you and anyone else who is in a similar
situation at this late date, if you can't find a roommate: rather than
paying rip-off prices at the few hotels remaining downtown--most of
which are running $200-$400 per night--think about renting a car and
staying at one of the budget motels that were listed as still available
in College PArk, MD (hom of the Univ. of MD) You'll need the car if you
have any early morning meetings on the weekend, since Metro doesn't
begin running till 8 AM on weekends, otherwise the Green line does run
out to College Park. But some of the cheaper chains were listed as of a
few minutes ago as having rooms available there for $70-$88 from
Thursday through Monday nights when I searched Expedia.

As for getting to the Convention Center via Metro, you will have to
change stations once, but it's no big deal to get there, and it's about
a half hour trip. There's also a good-sized parking garage in College
Park that is free on weekends.

I know all this about College Park because I have traveled there
frequently over the past 15 years.
