[ILL-L] borrowing current year materials

Our library's ILL policy is to not loan books that have been in our
collections for 6 months or less. I base it on the cataloging date, not on
the publication date. So, if we had cataloged a book within the last month,
but the publication date was 2005, we would not loan it. So basically, we
are saying we will not loan books that are new to our library, not just new
to publication.
In answer to your question, based on your policy, we would not loan that
2007 translation of a 1996 French book. I think that technically it IS a
new book. Your policy looks to be based on publication date and should not
consider previous editions.
