We would consider the item published in the last 12 months (in this case the new translation) to be ineligible.

Hopefully, our librarians would advise the patron of other editions that ARE eligible for Interlibrary Loan and of our purchase options.

Our library's policy restricts borrowing and lending materials published in
the last 12 months. For those of you with a similar policy, how do you treat
a current translation of a previously published work? In this instance, our
patron has requested a book published in English translation in 2007, with
the orginal French publication in 1996. Technically it's not a "new" book;
yet to the owning library of the translation it is indeed new. I'm not quite
sure which way to go.

Many thanks, Susan
