[ILL-L] suggestion for Leap Day - February 29, 2008

I agree with Alison. Those of us who participate on listservs are
probably also the ones who are more likely to have recently updated
entries in the policies directory.
And thanks to Jennifer for information about the registry. It was
updated this past February by persons unknown but it has our old address
information in it. Weird!

I'd assume that those that those reading this list are probably the most
likely to keep their policies up-to-date...

I hadn't completely updated ours until today after taking over for
wanting to wait until I felt that I knew I knew enough to figure out
what to add... but we did have our basic information about what we don't
lend, and contacts, and such - everything you HAVE to have... we just
now have more (and hopefully I did it right! If anyone wants to check
and see I'd appreciate it - FZ3)

I think just making one day "update your contact info" day would be
great -
to get those e-mail and shipping addresses in and up-to-date.

But why wait until February? How about doing it right before Labor Day
(since it will be so labor-saving to have this information in there)?

We'd just need a way to contact non-listserv-reading OCLC members. I'd
sure
e-mail a few here in my area to do it.

I'm all for a way to get that information updated. I'd be willing to
say it should be sooner. It was a pain in the butt to try to update my
custom holdings paths. What's even worse in my eyes are the libraries
that don't have anything in the policies directory, address, phone
number, contact person, etc.

no
surprise, the OCLC policies directory is not overly helpful and I'm
emailing
lots of libraries for clarification.
