[ILL-L] Question for my ILL Colleagues

Hello!

We are doing this on an informal basis as well.  I have initiated microfiche
purchases from NTIS (ordered by the library secretary via credit card) and
ordered one item from Alibris through ILL (paid by IFM).  However, for the
most part, we send purchase requests to Acquisitions and let them complete
the transaction.

I was pleased with my experience through Alibris, and would order from them
again, given the opportunity.

Does your ILL service purchase books for ILL patrons? I know of many ILL
units already doing this -- and we are very "goal minded" to convince our
acquisitions and collection development colleagues here that this is a
worthy service. We are planning to begin an ILL-for-purchase program soon,
and I am polling my ILL colleagues on this question. If you have time only
to answer, please provide institution and OCLC symbol indicating that you
are or are not offering this service; if you have advice, I'd be delighted
to hear it.
