[ILL-L] Question for my ILL Colleagues

Hi:
We have been purchasing books for several years now. Depending on the
subject or time frame, I can consult with subject librarians and get a
fund code to purchase books or they can order them.  I also submit requests
for books directly to Acquistions and they rush order. As long as the price
is not over $100 I can make the decision to order.  One of our
bibliographers also buys books from an independent bookshop here in town
for very recent publications we haven't received yet.  We get them rush
cataloged for the patron, usually 1-2 days.

Of course, the patrons love it and I'm glad we can do this.

ILL Colleagues:
Does your ILL service purchase books for ILL patrons? I know of many ILL
units already doing this -- and we are very "goal minded" to convince
our acquisitions and collection development colleagues here that this is
a worthy service. We are planning to begin an ILL-for-purchase program
soon, and I am polling my ILL colleagues on this question. If you have
time only to answer, please provide institution and OCLC symbol
indicating that you are or are not offering this service; if you have
advice, I'd be delighted to hear it.
