information. So keep those up to date.
When we have to go lower-case due to software or equipment upgrades,
closings, hurricanes, etc.- yes, I do make these changes via OCLC as a
matter of course. And I've tried to do these without announcing them on
listservs but then we get calls and e-mails from libraries asking us
what's going on. I don't mind getting non-supplier notices. It gives
me more of an indication of what's going on. Our customers often want
to know in great why we can't get their requests filled. If -for
example- the University of the First Coast is the only source for a book
and their ILL office is closed for renovation until January 1st, it's
helpful information for our customers; they may want to plan a trip to
look at the material.
As for getting the address changes, that's helpful to me. I make the
changes in our ILLiad address book. Sometimes, the e-mails include
information the Policy Directory doesn't- phone and fax numbers and
e-mail addresses. And- while this information may get changed right
away in the Policy Directory, there may be parts of the WCRS where the
address change gets overlooked. I know I ran into this when we moved; I
thought I had all the bases covered and I didn't. It would be nice to
have the ability to make a global address or phone number change in
WCRS.

Well now we have multiple posts in response to a post about multiple
postings! I, like Kelley, just delete them. (Notice I did NOT say me
too. :-) )

I think it's useful to determine whether the problem is local (confined
to your camopus or library) or nationwide. I was having a bad computer
day--on two different computers--so at first I thought the problem might
be with my computer, until I saw the listserv. But I agree that once we
have had 20 "me too" responses, a 21st probably isn't necessary.

Am I the only one who is tired of postings to this list when there are
problems with OCLC?
If I were unable to get into resource sharing or some other area, I
would notify OCLC so they could send out a notice to everyone and then
resolve the problem and let us know when it has been corrected. If you
don't report it to OCLC, nothing will happen..
Questions to this list with all the "me too" responses do nothing to
solve the problem and clutter inboxes.
I thought the purpose of the listserv was to provide mutual assistance
with interlibrary loan questions, not as a place to report OCLC
malfunctions.
Similarly, if your address changes or you a going to a nonsupplier
status [except in case of a sudden emergency] make these changes on
OCLC. I, for one, am not going to keep track of these posts to the
list. I check the policy directory or your workforn for all of that
information. So keep those up to date.
